SUMMARY:Foundation stimulates creativity with interactive workshops
DESCRIPTION:The Creative Foundation Inc of Manitoba delivered a highly interactive and stimulating workshop for school children in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on May 11, 2017, to round up the activities for the year. More than 120 grades 5, 6 and 10 school children converged at the Holiday Inn South Venue for a day of creative and interactive activities, including music, moving cartoons, visual art, poetry, and human rights presentations.\nIn each of the workshops, the students were fully engaged. They were as sharp as nails, bright as stars and brave as David in their eagerness and enthusiasm and willingness to take risks.\nHon. Rochelle Squires brought greetings on behalf of the provincial government. She encouraged the children to see themselves as artists even though they may not have artworks hanging in a gallery.\nShe told them they were all artists and should have fun with the day’s workshop. Presenters included Yisa Akinbolaji, Dr. Sunday Olujoku, President of Creative Foundation and writer Catherine Rust-Akinbolaji, and Beatrice Watson, Manitoba Human Rights Commission staff.\nTo all accounts, the day went by very quickly, the children enjoyed their pizza and salad lunch, and each got a gift, i.e. the artwork they produced – to take to their mothers for Mother’s day, which was the Sunday following the workshop.\nEach student prepared a piece of artwork using Yisa’s patented technique of Remoglue that sparkled with colour. The teachers gave the conference their thumbs up. The event was co-sponsored by Assiniboine Credit Union. Attendance was by registration only.\n
